Convert WebP to JPG — free, in your browser
Drop your file below. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser — the file never leaves your device, there is no account, no watermark and no size-signup trap.
Supports image/*,.webp,.gif,.bmp,.avif,.svg,.tif,.tiff
This page converts WEBP files to JPEG right in your browser — the file is never uploaded. WEBP is lossy or lossless (transparency support); JPEG is lossy (no transparency). Everything below runs on the same encoder your browser ships with, so the result you download is exactly what this page measured.
Converting never adds quality: if the source is a lossy format, that loss is already baked into the pixels and no converter can recover it. What a conversion can do is stop further loss (choosing a lossless target) or shrink the file further (choosing a more efficient codec). The measured table below shows real sizes and timings for a representative sample so you can decide before spending time.
Measured on this page
| Sample | WebP | JPG | Median time | Size change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 800×600 mixed content (gradient, shapes, text) | 17 KB | 20 KB | 2 ms | +18% |
Encoded by this page's own browser engine, median of 5 runs at quality 80. Your files will vary — treat it as a representative data point, not a promise.
When WebP → JPG is the right call
- •Older software, printers, kiosks and some Windows workflows still reject or mishandle WebP — JPG opens everywhere.
- •Email attachments and legacy upload forms with strict MIME whitelists often accept JPG only.
FAQ
Does converting WebP to JPG reduce quality?
One generation of JPEG compression at quality 80 is visually negligible for photos. The file will get larger, because JPEG's compression is less efficient, not because quality was added.
What happens to transparency in my WebP?
JPG cannot store an alpha channel, so transparent areas are flattened onto a solid white background in the output.
My WebP is animated — will the whole animation convert?
No. This tool converts the first frame as a still image. For animation conversion you need a dedicated tool (we don't upload files, so server-side video-style processing is out of scope by design).
