Quick Start

Welcome to PDFLean. With 114+ professional PDF utilities, local tools execute inside your browser’s private memory sandbox — keeping your sensitive files on your device. Heavier tools are labeled Cloud and use our encrypted servers with short retention; each tool’s mode is clearly marked before you start. Five tools cover the most common document tasks — each opens its own dedicated page and runs in your browser with no account needed: Merge PDF files · Split a PDF · Batch-process images · Linearize a PDF (Fast Web View) · Compress a PDF.

Most documents arrive with a job attached. These six groups match the job to the right tools — follow the one that sounds like yours.

Before you send it. Shrink an attachment so it clears a size limit, keep the first page rendering fast, and lock the form fields in place: compress a PDF (runs in your browser — no upload, free), linearize a PDF (Fast Web View) (local by default, free; an optional encrypted cloud pass handles very heavy files and uses plan quota), and flatten a PDF (in your browser, free). Full scenario guide: Compress a PDF for Email.

Sign and return. Read the contract first, fill the blanks, then apply a qualified signature: open a PDF in your browser (nothing uploaded, free) to check every page before you commit; fill a PDF form (in your browser, free); sign a PDF with a digital certificate runs PAdES signing on the encrypted cloud path and uses plan quota. Full scenario guide: Sign a Contract and Return It.

Invoices and financial documents. Turn statements into spreadsheets, stamp traceable numbers across a packet, and split a bundled PDF at each invoice boundary: convert PDF to Excel (in your browser, free), add Bates numbering to a PDF (in your browser, free), and split a PDF by text (in your browser, free). Full scenario guide: Archive a Year of Invoices.

Scan and archive. Make scanned pages searchable, clean up mobile captures, and store the result in the archival format: OCR a PDF (on-device recognition, free, no upload), enhance a scanned document (in your browser, free), and convert a PDF to PDF/A (in your browser, free). Full scenario guide: Build a Searchable Archive.

Forms and collection. Build the form once, then let respondents fill it without installing anything: create a fillable PDF form (in your browser, free) and fill a PDF form (in your browser, free). Full scenario guide: Collect Signed Consents.

Share privately and compliantly. Remove the sensitive content for real, find it automatically first, then control who can open the result: redact a PDF deletes matched text from the content stream locally — free, no upload — with an optional cloud pass; detect PII automatically recognizes emails, ID numbers, and similar patterns in your browser — free — with an optional server-side step that uses quota; password-protect a PDF (in your browser, free). Full scenario guide: Prepare a Filing for Public Disclosure.
