Cross-Reference Table

Nội dung này hiện chưa có sẵn bằng ngôn ngữ của bạn.

A PDF is a pile of numbered objects scattered through the file, and the cross-reference table — the xref — is the index that says where each one starts. A reader opens a PDF by reading the trailer, jumping to the xref, and using it to locate everything else. If the xref is damaged or missing, the reader cannot find the pages even when the page data itself is intact, which is how a file ends up “broken” while its bytes are all still there.

A file that arrives with a truncated tail after a bad transfer. The pages are present in the file, but the index is gone, so readers refuse to open it. A repair pass rebuilds the index by scanning for objects directly, and the document opens again with every page in place.
