Form Field

Definition
Section titled “Definition”A form field is an interactive region on a PDF page that can hold a value a user or a program fills in: a text box, a checkbox, a radio button, or a dropdown. Every field has a name stored in the file alongside it, and that name — not its position — is how values are addressed, exported, and refilled. Interactive PDFs using this model are called AcroForms.
Example
Section titled “Example”A form with a text field named participant.name. A user types a name into the visible box; a program exports the same value by reading the field participant.name. When two forms share field names, one value fills both, which is why duplicate field names produce the classic “I filled one box and two boxes changed” result.
